Memberships

Memberships are a great way to support the work of Invercargill Musical Theatre by contributing to the costs associated with administration, facilities, and the services provided to members. We have a range of subscription options available with different benefits.

Life Members
Ongoing Membership – no cost

Platinum Members
$500 per calendar year
Gold Members
$300 per calendar year
Silver Members
$25 per calendar year
Student Members
$10 per calendar year

Platinum Members receive 2 tickets and a programme to the major show plus a one-off 2 for 1 deal on tickets for second show e.g. theatre restaurant, junior show.

Gold Members receive 2 tickets and a programme to the major show

Subscriptions are due on 1 January each year and must be paid by 28 February or Membership lapses. Silver, Gold and Student Subscriptions expire on 31 December of each year, regardless of the time of joining. No discounts are given for part year Memberships.

Membership Benefits by Category

1. Category (a) Life Members:

Persons elected as Life Members of the Society shall be exempt from paying any Membership Subscription. Life members shall:

  • Have full voting rights at the Society’s Annual General Meeting or any Special General Meeting.
  • Receive two complimentary tickets to the opening night both of the Society’s Major Production and to any Theatre Restaurant or other productions (if any).
  • Be entitled to other benefits which may be afforded to Silver Members from time to time including any discount on tickets to productions and/or to preferential booking rights as may be set by the Committee in respect of any Production.
  • In respect of a Production, be entitled to any promotional benefits set by the Committee in respect of booking tickets or discounts which are afforded to Members participating in a production as cast or crew.
  • Receive Society Newsletters.
2. Category (b) Silver Members:

On approval of his or her Silver Membership and payment of the prescribed Subscription, any person participating in the activities of the Society as “Cast or Crew” or otherwise supporting the Society shall be or become a “Silver Member” of the Society for the currency of the subscription period. Silver Members shall:

  • Have full voting rights at the Society’s Annual General Meeting or any Special General Meeting during the subscription year.
  • Be entitled to any discount on tickets to productions and/or to preferential booking rights as may be set by the Committee in respect of a particular Production.
  • In addition to the benefits afforded in paragraph 2(b), any Silver Member who is also participating in a production as Cast or Crew, be afforded such further promotional benefits in respect of booking tickets or discounts as the Committee may decide having due regard to the commercial considerations of that Production.
  • Receive Society Newsletters.
3. Category (c) Gold Members:

On application and subject to the approval of the Committee of Membership and on payment of the prescribed Subscription, any person, whether or not participating in the activities of the Society or otherwise supporting or being a supporter of the Society, may become a “Gold Member” of the Society for the currency of the Subscription Year.

This Membership is available to Life Members, Silver Members, individuals (whether singly or in joint names), businesses or companies. On payment of double the prescribed Annual Subscription set for Gold Membership applicable at the time of payment (and without a further payment being demanded in the event of an increase in subscription in year two), Gold Membership may be purchased for periods of either one or two (calendar) years. Gold Members shall:

  • In the case of individuals, have full voting rights at the Society’s Annual General Meeting or any Special General Meeting during the Subscription Year.
  • Receive two complimentary tickets to the Society’s Major Production Opening night.
  • Be entitled to purchase two tickets at half price to any other Production within their Membership Subscription Year(s).
  • Receive two (single) invitations to any Opening Night Gala Function with Cast, Crew and Production Team.
  • Be entitled to any discount on tickets to productions and/or preferential booking rights as may be set by the Committee in respect of a particular Production.
  • By Arrangement, receive a Backstage Tour of the Society’s Major Production.
  • In addition to the benefits afforded in paragraph 2(e), a Gold Member who is also participating in a production as Cast or Crew be afforded such further promotional benefits in respect of booking tickets or discounts as the Committee may decide having due regard to the commercial considerations of that Production.
  • Receive Society Newsletters.
2. Category (d) Student Members:

This category is open to persons under the age of 18 and to students under 25 years of age in fulltime study. The benefits shall be as Silver Membership with the Subscription (per calendar year) set at $10.00 (including GST).

The Legal Stuff

The purpose of levying Membership Subscriptions is to make a meaningful contribution to the costs of the administration of the Society and the facilities and services provided to Members.


Membership of the Society shall always be subject the approval of the Committee. The Committee may terminate or suspend the Membership in any category of any person if the Committee, in its absolute discretion, considers such Membership to be prejudicial to the purposes or interest of the Society and/or the activities of any Member brings or is likely to bring the Society into disrepute.

  • Life membership shall be for the life of the Member (subject to paragraph two above).
  • Silver and Gold Membership is on an annual calendar year basis i.e. 1 January to 31 December. With no discount or pro-rating for part year Membership.

Any Member failing to pay the annual Subscription in full by 28 February shall be deemed to have resigned from the Society. Any new member joining after 28 February shall pay the annual Subscription in full within 28 days of approval of his or her Membership by the Committee.

Every person participating as cast or crew in any Society Production must be a Member of the Society (in any category).
