The Invercargill Musical Theatre Scholarship is established to provide financial assistance to talented and passionate individuals pursuing education and professional development in musical theatre. This fund aims to support students, performers and creatives who require financial assistance to access training programmes, higher education or performance opportunities.

Our mission is to nurture local musical theatre artists of various disciplines by reducing financial barriers and providing opportunities for growth, education, and artistic development.

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate a strong interest in musical theatre (performing, as a creative, in a technical or production role).
  • Be seeking funding for an educational programme, workshop or opportunity relevant to their discipline.
  • Demonstrate financial need or limited access to resources.
  • Provide a CV, audition tape, or relevant proof of experience in musical theatre as outlined in the application form.

Interested candidates must submit:

  • A completed scholarship application form.
  • A personal statement, 500 -1000 words, detailing their passion for musical theatre, career aspirations, and how the scholarship will benefit them.

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher, director, or industry professional.
  • A budget breakdown of how the funds will be used.
  • Applications will be accepted between October 1 – 31st each year.
  • Scholarships may range from $500 to $1000 depending on available funds and applicant needs.
  • Recipients may reapply in subsequent years if they continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Applications will be considered by the Invercargill Musical Theatre executive and any additional personnel they may decide to co-opt.
